WTM Essay It was cold, I was in the back seat of the Sheriff’s truck driving down the empty road, while the sun just began to rise. Then we stopped, and in the minute he opened the door I saw it. My own mother’s grave along with a willow tree. When this external force happened to Sal it was like her own heart broke. In the novel Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech Sal gets over her Mother's tragic death by it happening again in her best friend Phoeboe shoes, realizing things she never thought of, and getting to see her mother and the willow tree. They helped me to think about and understand my own mother. Phoebe's tale were like my fishing in the air: for a while I needed to believe that my mother was not dead and that she would come back.¨ This shows that Phoeboe's story helped Sal get over her mother's death and help her understand more things about her. Another way how Sal gets over the external force her mother dying is by realizing things she never thought of before about her mother. In chapter 44 it states “ The second jealousy is this: I am jealous that my mother wanted more children. Wasn’t I enough? When I walked in her moccasins, though, I say “ If I were my mother, I might want more children- not because I don’t love Salamanca, but because I love her so much I want more of these.” This shows that Sal realizing more things helped her get over her mother's death by helping her realize that her mother did love her and never meant to hurt her. And last way Sal got over her mother's death is by being able to see her grave and next to it the big singing willow tree which made her feel better because she knew her mother wasn't gone but singing in the trees. In chapter 42 it says “I kissed the willow. ¨ Happy birthday.”I
