F. Scott Fitzgerald Essay Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald wrote over 150 stories in his lifetime, including The Great Gatsby, This Side of Paradise, and, but never finished, The Love of the Last Typhoon. (Youtube) He spent all his time in writing. When he was in college, he never worked on his school, instead, he would work on writing stories. (Fitzgerald) Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald was considered one of the greatest writers of the nineteenth century for the reason that he had experience with being poor, his dedication to writing, and all the struggles that he went through. (Youtube) When he was there, he was not working on his school work, he was writing more stories. Halfway through college, he was placed on academic probation because he was not doing his work. (Fitzgerald) After he was placed on academic probation, he decided to leave Princeton and join the army. Even though he did join the army and trained with the soldiers, he never actually went into the war. (The Literature Network) The war end just a couple months and he joined. While he was in the army, he met the love of his life named Zelda. After the war ended, they got together and got married and had a child named Francis Scott. First off, he lived and grew up during the early 1900’s. (Fitzgerald) The people in his stories and the way they act is from the early 1900’s. His characters were usually dressed very nice and drove nice cars. At the parties that would go on, everyone that showed up was either wealthy or looked wealthy. (Youtube) In The Great Gatsby, Nick Carraway is not the wealthiest man around, but he is friends with Jay Gatsby and he is probably the richest man around. (The Literature Network) Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald grew up around rich and wealthy people, but his family struggled to hold down a job and did not have money. Throughout his stories, he expresses his childhood in the story. ( Youtube) Jay Gatsby is based off of Fitzgerald for the reason that he drew up poor, went into the army for a little while, and then grew up to be very wealthy
