Into The Wild English Final “Into The Wild” is a partial biography written by Jon Krakauer describing how the body of Chris McCandless was found in the wilderness of Alaska. Mr. McCandless was a gifted athlete and scholar, who from an early age shows deep intensity, passion, and a strict moral compass. He discovered that his father had a second family while McCandless was growing up but wasn't told until he graduated high school. He wanted to leave society because to pursue a life of adventure and not apathy/routine while also trying to get away from his sleepwalker, money-driven/materialistic parents. He donated his $25,000 to charity, burned his wallet, drove his car to the middle of nowhere, and disappear in April of 1992.

“The Glass Castle” is a biography, drama written by Destin Daniel Cretton; it portrays a young girl (Jeanette Walls) and her family as they struggle in poverty stricken towns with a mother who is an eccentric artist and her alcoholic father who she blindly puts her faith in. The film was released on August 11, 2017 and features Brie Larson, Woody Harrelson, and Naomi Watts among others. The big question, “What do I think about “The Glass Castle” film? The film was dissatisfying overall, I did not feel same emotional attachment that I felt with the book. They did not show enough of Jeanette and Rex’s connection to each other.
One may say that McCandless’ violent childhood is what caused his downfall. McCandless may have even had the right idea, separating himself from his family, but due to his fragile state of mind he may have gone to too much of an extreme. He ended up taking the policies and principles of transcendentalism too far, which is really what resulted in his death. A concept that transcendentalism goes strongly against is materialism, a principle that may have saved his life. He was so anti materialistic in fact, that he refused to even have a phone or form of communication, this ultimately could have saved his life.
The following passage epitomizes the Walls’ lifestyle, Jeanette's parent’s teaching mantra being, “If you don’t want to sink, you better figure out how to swim.” This attitude towards life reminds me of when Rose Mary says, “Suffering is good for the soul” earlier in the story. In this scene in particular, Rex Walls attempts teaching Jeannette how to swim. However, he takes a different approach than most parents would, continually pushing her away from him, and allowing her to thrash around in the waters, drowning until he brought her back to the shallow end of the spring. Although a memorable section of the text, this wasn’t the only occurrence where the parenting of the Walls’ bordered neglect.

How is it possible to live with such joy in such poor conditions? This is exactly what everyone wonders about a young man by the name of Mr.Blue. Mr.Blue, written by Myles Connoly, is about a young man who is often viewed as insane by others for his peculiar joy and views on the world, and his close friend, the narrator of the story, who is constantly challenged by Mr.Blue’s morals and values. Mr.Blue’s sole purpose is to preach the Gospel to others. It's not something that he views as a chore, but instead something that brings him joy and that he hopes will bring others joy as well.
Liking a serial killer is generally frowned upon, but in the novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay, he makes us like one. Jeff Lindsay makes the audience like Dexter, but as the book continues the view of him decays to a point of concern and pity. This view towards him continues until the affection towards him is reinforced as he chooses to remain human. Lindsay uses this type of protagonist to convey ideas of society, like not knowing who someone truly is, and showing that heroes do not always do the right thing, until it matters most. Some readers can see this in Dexter through ought the book as he conceals his identity.

The Weimar republic founded after the Kaisers abdication in 1918 (LINK) is believed by many to have been doomed to fail from its inception on the 9th November 1918. It is believed to have been doomed due to the economic, social, political factors present during its inception and reign as well as the very constitution it was hastily founded upon after the Kaisers abdication. These factors include the increased gaps between the classes, the budget constraints brought on by the war, the failing industry, conservative judges, political unrest as well as the Weimar’s constitution. These factors combined would doom the Weimar republic and allow men attached to right or left wing ideologies to try and seize power from the instable Weimar republic
