The book I chose for my summer reading project was Fahrenheit 451. To people that are too lazy to read it and just want to know what happened, you’re in luck because that’s what I’m going to do. This story takes place in the future, 2053 to be exact. There wasn’t a definite location given but by what clues the book gave me, my guess is it’s around Chicago and St. Louis. The main character was a man named Guy Montag, he was a fireman. Well, usually firemen usually put out fires, but in this time fireman start fires. They obviously don’t go around setting fire to everything they see, they set fire to only one thing books. Well, back to Montag (he was called that during that during the story.) he had a great life with a wife named Mildred. Everything was just great, he loved burning books and he loved his wife. One day when he was walking down the road he met a girl named Clarisse McClellan she was the one to open his eyes to reality, to make think maybe everything is not all right. As a firemen burning books and actually never reading you will be tempted to steal one or maybe even a few. Obviously, Montag stole a few but he never read them. To tell you something about his world, the Government brainwashed almost everybody it to believing there are no problems, we just need to be happy. Everyone was so hooked up on being happy that they didn’t even know war was coming but the effect that I will explain later.
