'Fahrenheit 451' By Ray Bradbury: Song Analysis

In the book Fahrenheit 451, the author Ray Bradbury uses the theme of dissatisfaction with life to show how people say they are satisfied even though they're not. Like how the citizens use technology to fill the gap even when it doesn't leave them fulfilled. To quote Guy's wife Mildred says” If we had a fourth wall it would be like this room wasn’t ours at all.” Why would she want another one if she was satisfied with her life? The song I felt most represented this theme is Paranoid by Black Sabbath. One of the lyrics is “ People think I’m insane cause I am frowning all the time.” In this society, people are so used to a false sense of happiness that when Guy starts to question how happy he is people are confused and people think something is wrong with him. Their brains always need to have something to keep them working, there's no rest. Like how Mildred's family is always on the screens in the living room.
