Bradbury’s Prediction of Mass Media and its Influence Fahrenheit 451 shows a dystopian society in which the government controls the lives of people and uses mass media to influence their thoughts, ideas, beliefs and overall lives. In Fahrenheit 451, Ray Bradbury used the TV walls, the seashell radios, and the Green Bullet to predict the use of mass media to influence the American Population. One of the ways that Bradbury uses technology to predict its influence on the American society is the TV walls. When Faber decides to help Montag talk to Capitan Beatty he gives him a small portable-phone like radio that goes in Montag’s ear, and tells Montag “And something more! It listens! If you put it in your ear, Montag, I can sit comfortably home, warming my frightened bones, and hear and analyze the firemen's world, find its weaknesses, without danger”. (Bradbury 52). Faber creates the Green Bullet as a way to help Montag talk to Beatty with his help without having Beatty realize that Montag was getting help from him, the green bullet is a portable almost invisible device. The Green Bullet was like a phone but it was different since people around were not able to see it, the device predicted technology since in the 21st Century phones are portable and bluetooth earphones prevents other people seeing them making a call, and they are one of the most important objects in a person’s life, they have influenced the American population by making written viral communication such as texting the main way of how Americans communicate daily instead of
