“Books give a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight the imagination, and life to everything.” -Plato. This quote shows the importance of books. If there were to be a world without books, the most important book I would keep would be Fahrenheit 451. This book would be important to keep because it would show us what would happen if books were outlawed. If books were outlawed several consequences would happen: so many people would become oppressed by losing their intelligence, gullibility, creativity, emotional connection, and history would be doomed to repeat itself. This book shows that not having books suppresses people's intelligence. People can gain intelligence from reading books. They can read textbooks, or any type of literature. When people are not intelligent, they can’t make decisions on their own. People lose the ability to remember because reading books stimulates the mind; and not reading will shorten one’s reach of memory. People with then become gullible. With gullibility, other people and even the government will provide wrong information will lead everyone to believe every word of it. People will blindly follow anybody and believe anything. Books offer different points of view, and information, so without them people would become dependent on other people's appearance, therefore making them gullible. Books give people the ability picture images and have imagination and without books they have no creativity.
