This Chapter describes the strong disagreements among the Allies, and individual services, regarding the prioritization of strategic military goals, and the resulting implications, and consequences on post-war diplomacy. One of the most intense debates involved the best utilization of aircraft, with the United States and Britain urging use of massed aircraft for strategic bombing to guarantee Allied victory by destroying the German industrial capacity and breaking the will of the German people. Emily Bronte's narrative format starts with narrators, Mr. Lockwood and Nelly Dean, who upon first glance appear to be unbiased observers; but soon it is revealed that her so called objective observers succumb to biases, by being directly involved with other characters. For instance, Mr Lockwood's role in the novel is to allow readers to begin the narrative after most of the events have already taken place --via flashbacks--. Readers are then forced to view the events through the biases of Lockwood's interpretation of Nelly Dean’s memories. Lockwood is proven to be an unreliable source when retelling the story. He is acquainted with key characters and appears to form his own opinions about them.

This essay will demonstrate that Adam is not responsible for his transformation, and that he is a victim of Evelyn’s manipulation and control. Gender reversal is one of the techniques employed by the author that allows the reader to perceive the character of Adam as a victim. In the beginning of the play, LaBute switches traditional gender roles by portraying Evelyn as a dominant figure and Adam as a passive character.
