Will Smith has been a victim of second degree murder by a man named Cardell Hayes on April 9th 2016. It started off as a simple hit and run on Mr. Hayes which slowly but surely escalated to Hayes pulling out a gun and fatally shooting and killing Mr. Smith. On a surveillance video it shows a Mercedes SUV trailing a Hummer, until the latter vehicle stops abruptly. The Mercedes pulls up quickly, too, possibly hitting it from behind. Both vehicles are a standstill briefly, until the Hummer starts to pull over; the Mercedes, though, goes around and drives off. A short distance away and a short time later, according to police, an altercation occurred between Smith, in a Mercedes G63 SUV, and Cardell Hayes, in a Hummer H2. After word got out about this, Hayes began to claim self-defense. Since he was not the one who initially caused the collision, he believes He was the one who was the victim. According to Hayes Lawyer, he insists that his client wasn’t the aggressor. After Mr. Hayes car was struck, he trailed behind him in an attempt to “get his license plate number, while at the same time, calling 911. While on the call, both Will and Hayes exchanged some words after which 6 gun shots were fired. Not only was Will shot, but his wife as well. Bill Ceravolo is one of the defendants in the lawsuit. He dined with Smith hours before the shooting occurred. Although he is a police, he was not at the shooting scene, nor was he aware he was named in the suit (due to Mr. Ceravolo being the same officer who handled a case in regards to Hayes father.) The police say there is no direct evidence that says Hayes and Smith previously knew each other but they are still investigating the motive behind the shooting ADDITIONAL INFORMAION Hayes wasn’t the only one who had a gun the night of April 12th 2016. Detectives found a fully loaded 9-millimeter handgun in the back of Smiths car, as well as another gun in Hayes
