In document 1, it talks about how the population was declining. The lowest was a mere six thousand by 500 CE. The reasons are not clear, but the Romans’ luxurious lifestyle and their concomitant disinterest in producing and raising children must have played some part in it.
The major reasons for the Fall of Rome were caused by its military mistakes, political instability, and their economic/civic decay. Before these events occurred, Rome was one of the wealthiest and greatest empires. The empire was led by a hero named Julius Caesar who helped Rome conquer land and defeat major rivals. There were many different causes for the fall of the Roman empire, not just one. The Roman Empire was very strong, but eventually broke down over time for a multitude of reasons. The problems of the military was the shortage of children, foreigners had to join the military because of the lack of children, causing the Roman army to be composed entirely of Germans.
