The Roman Republic was a period in which the city-state of Rome was a republican government. The Roman Republic was from 509-27 B.C.E. Many things happened during these years and then when the Roman Republic fell, they had the first Roman emperor. What was The Roman Republic exactly? What caused the Roman Republic to fall? You know now that the Roman Republic was in trouble. The Roman Empire tried to change all the corruption that was happening and people believed that Augustus could do that. There were many reasons why the Roman Republic fell. All those people that wanted power but Julius Caesar became dictator and wanted to take all the power from the senate and other people that had power. That's why the senate became mad at Julius Caesar and killed him. The people living there had so much corruption going on and they didn't want to go out in the street because they were scared. The male of the family had to take care of his family and if they didn't have money, they could sell their children into slavery. The women had to teach their children how to write and read because many didn’t have money to get a tutor. Women also couldn’t go out in the street; they had to stay at their house, but that changed later and they could even work at public places or where other people would be at. When Julius Caesar died, his nephew and the heir, became the first Roman emperor. Under the power of Caesar Augustus, everything changed. He had all the power and he told the people that they could trust him to change everything. Him being the emperor made everything better and had a positive effect. There weren’t any more wars.
