Falling into dance was a hypnotizing performance that enthralled its audience and stood to make a point. The point that this was not an average high school performance. Within the first act alone, it had sent me through a range of emotions and understandings. I understood love from Audrey and Prudencio and I understood death from Layla and Lindsey. The performance in its entirety left me in awe. By the first half of act 1, I was sold on the dancer 's professionalism and obvious commitment. The piece “HAPATAP” demonstrated both of these with its complex steps and facial energy. Although it demonstrated two important aspects of a performance, it could have used the space more. Staying in the same spots, made the piece feel impersonal and slightly robotic. The choreography of the dance was good, but I felt as though it was anticlimactic. The only real climax was when Ms. Mamala entered. However, everyone had a wonderful stage face and gave the dance a happy energetic feeling. My favorite sections to the dance concert had to be “Stone”. The two sections leading up to the end gave me something to look forward to. I could see how they progressed and what it had become. The first two pieces demonstrated the use of levels and gave the viewer something to admire when the dancers returned to the positions they started in. The music of these pieces was very minimal which in turn intensified the dancers movements. In contrast there was a very present stillness to their movements. The style of dance could not have been none other than modern and it was an excellent choice on behalf of the choreographers. Stone one and two created a climax that led up to Stone three. I got a “Night at the Museum” feeling from Stone three. They came alive and moved around, but at the end of the night they had to be back where they
