Many and varied are the interpretations dealing with the teachings and the life of Jesus of Nazareth. But few of these interpretations deal with what the teachings and the life of Jesus have to say to those who stand, at a moment in human history, with their backs against the wall (Thurman, 1949). Jesus was a Jew, meaning he was born visually, culturally, religiously, and ethnically different. Most of world history is man subjugating or discriminating based on appearance (Chapter 1 of “Jesus & The Disinherited”:
3. Why did John allow his brother to move in even though it increased the likelihood of further problems for him and his family? John allowed his brother to move in because on the outside it looked like he was doing what is traditional of Native Americans, but underneath the surface it allowed John to have another outlet for money and another person that would allow him to escape the realities of life. After being incarcerated, John had very little to do with his time and did not have a job.
During the time this play took place and the religion the people believed in, committing adultery was the ultimate sin next to conforming with the devil. In this case, John not only was charged with adultery but also conforming with the devil because both his wife and Elizabeth lied to the judges denying the affair causing him to be accused of
St. Iraneaus debated that Gnostics are those who are spiritual with growing knowledge of God, lack the true faith because Gnostics deny the “Incarnation and bodily Resurrection of Christ,” [p. 182]. Iraneus described in p. 4 of Selections that believers should mirror Christ 's life. This chapter focuses on the importance of recognizing the symbolic elements of Christ. In the New Testament of the Christian Bible, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came from Heaven to earth in the form of man to fulfill the Old Testament prophecies of the Messiah. He is believed to have lived a perfect life, free from sin, and to have died on a Roman cross for the sins of the world. Sometimes, writers use their characters to represent Christ in different ways. These symbolic characters are known as Christ figures.
In chapter 19 Mary in the Qur’an, Maryam by Mohammad, is told of her foreseeable future. Her husband has been visited and has received explanatory news. Verse 19:8 shows that he is very confused of how this baby will be born as he is old and his wife is barren ‘He said, "My Lord, how will I have a boy when my wife has been barren and I have reached extreme old age?". However, this chapter in the Qur’an describes the birth of ‘John’ and he will be a sign to the people and a mercy from ‘Us’. This chapter also mentions the missions of some earlier prophets, showing that only human beings are raised to reform the world.
The figurative blindness led him to the truth and the literal blindness compelled him into a total spiritual
Rejecting Justice Stewart In his book, The Making of the Self, Dr. Richard Valantasis proposes a new definition to a classic term used constantly throughout religious studies: asceticism. While most definitions focus heavily on the negative nature of asceticism, Valantasis asserts that the nature of asceticism is inherently positive and fulfills a more universal purpose. Although his definition is unlike previous understandings of asceticism, ultimately his approach is one more scholars should consider.
The greatest story ever told, told four different ways, by four different people, has been used for millions of people throughout history to discover their Creator. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are the first four books of the New Testament. They all four share the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Though they share many similarities, they also have their individual purpose and own identity.

Only in the gospel of John is the term parakletos written which means, “advocate” or “helping presence”. John identity’s three designations for the Holy Spirit, first, Paraclete, second, the Holy Spirit, and third the Spirit of Truth. The New Covenant Community: What was really interesting that the word church was not used in the gospel of John but was only used twice in all the synoptic gospels and that was in Matthew (16:18; 18:17)? To relate this theory to the Bible, Apollinarius’ interpretation could be related to the Bible verse found in Galatians 5:17 which states, “For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.” He relates to this verse, but twists it to say that Jesus could not have had a human mind/spirit because it was corrupt and against the divine nature. What he missed though is that Jesus is not just partly human and partly divine, but He is one hundred percent God and one hundred percent man. The Christian belief of the incarnation of Jesus is quite different from what Apollinarius believed. Christians believe that Jesus in the flesh was not only fully man but also fully God; not half and half, not a mixed nature, not a divine mind with a human mind and soul, but all God and all man!
St. Augustine altered the blame from Christianity’s original views on the devil causing sin, to one focusing on how humans are born evil. The book begins with St. Augustine praising God and asking God for help in what he should do. Then Augustine
Jesus Christ describes false prophets and asks believers to avoid the harmful effect of these false prophets. He indicates that false prophets wear the clothes of sheep, but are as ferocious as wolves. False prophets will not help you to find the right way. They claim to bring the true message of salvation from God, but their claim is false. They have the appearance of godliness innocent, and fair professions of love , but they have the heart of evil.
