Family Counterculture Ellen Goodman Analysis

After reading “Family Counterculture” by Ellen Goodman she implies that today’s world is hostile to children. I agree with Goodman, parents are expected to protect their children from an increasingly hostile environment. For example, Goodman states in paragraph number nine “Mothers and fathers are expected to screen virtually every aspect of their children’s lives”.

The word it`s appears four times in paragraph number sixteen. If I had to guess at why Goodman repeats the word I would say because it is being used to emphasize the point. Raising children is a huge responsibility and becomes very difficult with the world around us. The effect of the repetition would be the amount of influence television has over quality family time.
