What exactly is IRS Innocent Spouse Relief? It is a measure of relief built into the tax code that allows a person, if eligible, to avoid paying his or her spouse's tax if it was reported incorrectly. The innocent spouse relief applies to a spouse that can prove that he or she did not incur the tax bill and did not somehow benefit from the failure to pay. Ultimately, this rule is designed to protect people from liability for taxes incurred as a result of evasive or dishonest financial behavior by their spouses, or from divorces where one person fails to pay tax on the income he or she earned and intends to leave the other spouse with the bill.

Because of the lack of an available private office, they conduct their peer supervision at a local coffeehouse, being careful only to identify their clients by their first name. A. Does this violate the Code of Ethics? I believe that it doesn’t violate the code of ethics.
MILLERSBURG — Despite a plea for leniency expressed by the victim, a Sugarcreek man was unable to overcome a long history of criminal convictions and a bond violation when a Holmes County judge on Wednesday sentenced him to prison for making unwanted phone calls and threats to several members of a family over a period of months. David Lamar Schrock, 43, of 2578 State Route 39, previously pleaded guilty in Holmes County Common Pleas Court to two counts of telephone harassment and one count of menacing by stalking. In exchange for his guilty plea, the state agreed to dismiss two additional counts of telephone harassment and three counts of menacing by stalking. The charges are made more serious because Schrock was convicted, in January 2016,
What makes someone guilty of murder? There are different types of murder in the world. You can still be labeled for murder even if you are not physically the cause of it. In this case, Casey Anthony was brought up on charges of murder for her daughter. She may have been found not guilty, but does that still exclude her from being labeled for murder.
What if there was a law that could minimize, even stop all mass shootings eventually? “Laura’s Law was named for 19-year-old Laura Wilcox, who was killed in 2001 by a psychiatric client at a clinic in Nevada City. The state passed Laura’s Law in 2002 but left it up to counties to choose to implement it. For a while, only Nevada County did” (Dembosky 2). Laura’s death affected many, causing people to feel obligated to stop it from happening to anyone else.
A Victim-offender medication includes a trained mediator, the victim, and the offender will attend a meeting, the goal is to meet the victims and the offenders needs with healing dialogue as transformative. During a family group conference, a facilitator follows a script or an outline allowing the offender to speak first. Then the victim and then the participants, the purpose is to move process through phases. The neighborhood board includes a board chair, volunteers, the offender and the victim in which the board initiates member deliberation after questioning the offender and their parents through some variation emerging toward circle or a family group conferencing process. I think the neighborhood board conference is best suited to the juvenile justice system because there is neighborhood social support and community norm affirmation which focuses on
The first drug court was established in Miami-Dade, Florida in 1989. Drug courts were established because of the “revolving door of drug use” and increasing recidivism rates. Drug courts have the ability to change a person’s life for the better by teaching them how to beat their addictions while providing the proper treatments for each offender. As a result, of the ongoing development of drug courts it is unfair to expect the system to be indefectible. Still, there are many benefits in participating in the drug court system.
A few years ago I was living with my mother in Yuma. I lived with her for almost my whole life with joint custody shared between the two of my parents. I went to the school district that was in the boundaries of my mom's residence because more of the time shared between joint custody was with my mother. I always did okay in school up until two years ago. My mom has alway been a single parent ever since her and my dad split up.
In this chapter, we learn about children in family foster care. The intent of foster care is to offer children care within a family environment when their homes are temporally unable to do so. Foster care is meant to provide the following; temporary emergency care of a child, relief for a parent when he or she cannot manage stress, time for parent to solve problem, a different home experience or protection for a child, care unit institutional treatment is available, and care until release for adoption is approved. There are also different types of foster homes for different situations. The role of a foster parent can be very stressful; they never know what to expect for example supervised meeting for the birth parents, school attended meetings
Mental health courts handle people with mental illness who have been charged of a crime. Mental health court is defined as “a specialized court docket for certain defendants with mental illnesses” where the individual’s mental health is first evaluated (Bureau of Justice Assistance, 2008, p.4). Then, judicial staff and mental health professionals decide a treatment plan for the person (Bureau of Justice Assistance, 2008). Mental health court is an acceptable system because it allows people with mental illnesses to be treated differently than in a traditional court system.
Another specialized court that a community might benefit from establishing is a mental health court. The aim of mental health courts is to connect people with mental illness, that display deviant behavior, to mental health resources and social services that can better deal with cases such as these as an option for individuals who need to be treated more than they need to be imprisoned (A Promising Alternative, 2011). One good reason to creating drug and mental health courts in a community is their goal to problem solve rather than just push defendants through the conveyor belt or revolving door
