As a young woman fashion has always appealed to me. Fashion is a form of expression through which individuals illustrate their different personalities. Inspiration for my sense of style is usually derived from Pinterest, magazines, Youtube, Instagram pages and fashion bloggers. Some of my favorite clothing brands include; Forever 21, Hollister, Free People, Nike, Reebok, Puma, American Eagle and American Apparel. Although each brand sells different styles of clothing, they all have one major similarity that is the primary reason for their success in sales and business. Logos is persuading an audience with logic. Numbers, polls, facts and reasoning are used to convince consumers to purchase merchandise. This is often seen on many websites of the clothing brands that I mentioned. Forever 21 for example, displays percentages on their website in order to draw attention to their sales. Pathos is using emotions and feelings rather than facts to persuade an audience. Images are a form of achieving this appeal. Victoria Secret is notorious for this rhetorical strategy. Supermodels are seen modeling lingerie in images and runway shows in order to create emotions in women. Women naturally will want to adopt the "Victoria Secret Angel" look in order to feel pretty or appeal to the opposite sex. Posting images of a cute outfit on Instagram also create emotions of excitement. I know by personal experience, that seeing a cute pair of boots on Forever 21's Instagram feed, makes me feel excited to purchase and wear them myself.
