Dearly Beloved Father, I hope you’re having a great time visiting Aunt Tammy, mom and I miss you like crazy. Mom cooked your favorite meal today: corn and bean stew. Yum! I know Aunt Tammy has been taking good care of you up there as she always does. Has she made any apple strudel lately? If so you’ll have to bring me some. How is Allyson and Brion doing? I haven’t seen them in years, when we use to play around the house. I know Uncle Marvin has been telling a lot of funny jokes as always. You will have to fill me in when you get back. I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately, I’ve been trying to decide whether or not I want to go back to school. You know after being out of school awhile its kind of hard to get back into the swing of things but I feel as if I need a change of scenery. It has gotten really hectic around here while you’ve been gone. I enjoy what we have with this printing business because it has opened my mind up to a lot of things going on in today’s world and religion. The real reason I’m writing you is because I was recently approached by two men who have created a pamphlet arguing that all people should be able to choose their own religion. They believe that everyone should have the freedom to follow the Roman Catholic faith or the new Lutheran faith, or even other faith groups like the Anabaptists. For example, the issue with same sex marriages. There are many people who perform marriages such as ministers, judges, and court clerks. However, some of these people do not believe in same sex marriage, which presents a problem for our local, state and federal government. The problem is that they would have to create new laws to protect these people who may refuse to perform these marriage
