Roger Sherman Baldwin played an important role in slavery in the America we know today. Roger played a minor role in slavery itself, but in the matter of the amistad Roger played a major role. Roger was the lawyer who against better judgement decided to be Cinque’s attorney. Roger had a more regal and prestigious background then the movie would have us believe, as it turns out Roger Sherman Baldwin was the grandson of Roger Sherman, (a founding father, and only person to sign all four great state papers.) this effectively gave Roger a large amount of influence in courtrooms and other government facilities.

The Civil War was a big part of history having over 620,000 deaths. In this essay I am going to be talking of 3 of the battles of the civil war and the movie Glory along with 6 of the main characters and the 3 that impacted me the most. The civil war had 50 major battles but for this essay I'm going to be talking about 3 of them. In this case it'll be Gettysburg, Vicksburg, and Antietam.
Sometimes we never know what causes people to become criminals. For Jesse James and his gang it was the cruelty of the Civil War that led them into the life of violence and crime. It wasn’t the first crime that Jesse and his brother Frank committed but it was the first time he was seen as an outlaw. Kylie McEwen Slave Narratives and the Civil War "The more I read, the more I was led to abhor and detest my enslavers" (Douglass 43). This was said by Frederick Douglass, an ex-slave from Maryland. Douglass wrote a book recounting his experience as a slave, called the Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave (Frederick Douglass and the Civil War). The book is an example of a slave narrative, which is a "firsthand account of... African Americans whon were enslaved" (Criner 1). Former slaves wrote different slave narratives differently before and after the Civil War.

During my trips back to the south to save my fellow brothers and sister I wasn 't thinking about myself and getting caught I was thinking about how much im impacting their lives. I freed about a Thousand slaves in a decade and I could 've saved even more but the problem was them knowing that they were slaves and there was a better life without masters and people that treat the floor better than they treated you a fellow human. When the civil war began I was a freedom fighter and a renowned abolitionist and a underground railroad conductor throughout 10 years I took many trips back to the south and trust me there where extremely dangerous.

They were many things that affected the outcome of the deadly Civil war. The Civil war changed history in America. During the days of the Civil war there were 3 million that fought and 600,000 paid the sacrifice for freedom. The main two that I focused on to write about were Immigration and African Americans.
Throughout human history, war has been a common solution to settle conflict or disagreements between people. War has and will always be apart of this world, because no matter how much death it causes humans will never change. Some people have come to see the idiocy in war and have even written about it in poems, short stories, etc. One of these people, Samuel Clemens, better known as Mark Twain, has mocked this absurd and pointless practice. Twain’s essay The War Prayer satirizes the customs of praying for safety and victory in war and for equating war with patriotism.
Faulkner’s utilization of multiple narrators and multiple viewpoints to develop and establish the story is similar to Eliot’s “The Waste Land”. I felt that by having multiple narrators, it allows the author to give more depth to the story and allows for deeper character development. In “The Waste Land” the multiple voices let Eliot portray the situation in that place was universal, all the voices had little or no hope and were suffering even if they didn’t know it. The same was true of in “As I Lay Dying”.
“The War Prayer” Précis Mark Twain, in his Harper’s Monthly juvenalian writing “The War Prayer” (1916), argues that he is against war because “visions of the stern advance, the gathering momentum, the rushing charge, the flashing sabers, the flight of the foe, the tumult, the enveloping smoke, the fierce pursuit, the surrender” are bloody and atrocious. He supports his argument by exemplifying sanctimonious situational irony, incredulous verbal irony, and incongruity. Twain’s purpose is to reveal the hypocrisy of religious people “when you have prayed for victory you have prayed for many unmentioned results” in order to denounce war and the support of it. He embodies an astringent tone (“If you would beseech a blessing upon yourself, beware”)
