There are many U.S. elected officials who served during and after 1917 that I can talk about, but there are some that stood out to me. Franklin D. Roosevelt or commonly known as FDR served as the 32nd President of the United States from March 4, 1933, until his death. FDR or as Franklin D. Roosevelt was a very strong precedent in the aspect of controlling his country. Roosevelt won a record of running four terms, no other president ran more than two terms. Roosevelt started his presidency rough because there was a lot going on at that time. In 1932 during the Great Depression, FDR was able to defeat Herbert Hoover and won his presidency. Franklin D. Roosevelt, World War ll began. Roosevelt did not come into World War ll but he did help Great Britain, which was standing by itself at that time. Time was going by and Roosevelt didn't waste time at all. He worked diligently everyday to build up the nation's defense because he wanted to protect his nation and not get attacked by any other nation. During that time Roosevelt gave assistance to Great Britain, in exchange of air and naval bases. After time passed Japan attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. With FDR great communication with the people and the great leadership of his nation in the war, he was able to command and give orders to the military in a great successful way. FDR was able to lead the nation through that war with a lot of problems and a lot of changes, but he always had confidence that he would make it to the end. Roosevelt made it to his fourth term of presidency and he was able to make it, but since all he passed through he found out he was seriously ill. His sickness grew worse and worse and died on April 12, 1945, of a cerebral hemorrhage while trying to recover his
