Felix Mendelssohn
Felix Mendelssohn; pianist, composer, conductor. Mendelsohn was a man of many talents that graced the world with his artistic genius. Many compare him akin to Mozart and Beethoven, and though his life was short lived, he made the most of what he had.
Felix Mendelssohn was one of the greatest composers of the 1800s, or the Romantic era in music history. Born in Hamburg, Germany on February 3rd, 1809 to Leah Salomon and Moses Mendelssohn, he was lucky to have been born and raised in a prosperous middle class family. His parents were born and raised Jewish, but baptized their children as Lutherans, before they themselves converted to Lutheranism in 1816. Felix is one of those people that influences people in the same way that Beethoven, and Mozart has, at least for me he has. One of the songs I have been listening to a lot lately as well as the octet, is Symphony No.4 in A first Movement which has a great sound of course like many of his other compositions. The third link is the audio for that song. Through the many accomplishments both musically and educationally, such as founding the school in Germany, and his musical compositions. Felix and his Sister Fanny were great musicians of their time and of course some compositions that were hers were published under his name. For this reason I also believe that Felix was not only a great composer, but also a great person because he believed in his sister so much that he felt her work had to be heard, and knowing they would be under his name they would. He has helped inspire many musicians today, and is still a force to be reckoned with alongside the likes of Beethoven as I have said before in this essay, which in my opinion is not an easy
