Midterm Essay In order to write about something or someone you have to know that particular object or person in a perfect way. Some may say that if you describe yourself you have gained an advantage, but I disagree. I say that describing someone other than yourself may have a few advantages, because one may be able to see and write in a more objectively way and also not “sugar coat” the reality, which may happen when someone is talking about their own self. The person I have chosen to describe has left a mark on me and it is appropriate to say that I know him almost as well as I know myself, with thoughts, actions and feelings included. This guy is not your typical fella. He lies within his own world of paradoxes and most of the time …show more content…

For him everything is personal. I swear sometimes I think he is trying to prove a point that he is really better than everyone else and no one can take that away from him. He doesn’t like people very much, just people he is used to and are familiar to him. Also, his empathy skills are very low, but his heart is in the right place. It’s just when he loves, he becomes obsessed. When he hates, he loathes. Extremes can very well describe him. Like I mentioned earlier paradoxes are what he is made of. He will never stop surprising people, especially the ones he really cares about. He has a ridiculously goofy sense of humour and it impossible not to laugh with every word he says and the way he says it, when he is in a good mood and up for it. Also, he is very generous, I often tease him by saying: “you only have your soul left to give.” and he always says “let them take it.” Carl Jung was one of the most famous neopsychoanalytical theorist out there and one of his theories was that people can be divided in two opposing mental attitudes. Extraverts, which are people who are generally open, social to other people or toward the self as well. Introverts, on the other hand are basically people who are withdrawn and shy. When the child is the first born, the second born, the youngest child and when we have only one child, so the last group is when it is an only child. Adler demonstrated different characteristics and personalities for each and every one of this groups. I want to focus my attention into two of these, because the person I am dedicating my essay to is the second born and also the youngest. Highlighting also the culture that in Albania makes a lot of sense: the only boy. Starting from the last one, I think that being the only male child, has given him a lot of pampering. He talks of himself in such a proud way, even when he is wrong. His obsession with competition may have its roots from the fact that he wanted to surpass his older sister, since she is 7 years older than him and a very good student, obedient and his parents were very proud of her from an early age. Going back to the youngest child theory, he has matured from an early age, not very common in boys and when I fist met him I didn’t take him as only 2 years older than me. Karen Horney is one of the most successful neopsychoanalytical theorist that is also a woman. She had her own brilliant theories for mankind and personality that contributed a lot. One of her best known theories is the one about the neurotic
