While reading Chapter 3, many things stood out to me, and I found myself thinking of different people I have met in life. How different they acted around me while in front of others by different traits presented in this chapter. I focused my attention on one person. The part about the Johari window immediately made me think of him. The open part of him everyone knows he pretty much tells new people he meets the same things and tends to repeat his self. I could also see the hidden aspect of the window in him also. He at times seems deceptive when confronted about an issue, and because he does not want people to think badly of him he will say whatever he believes people want to hear. He is a very passive person, hates conflict. I know that he was bullied as a child on more days than was not, up until the 6th grade. Now that he is an adult he tends to just let people run over him because he has developed a self-concept based on how he thinks other people see him. Even if they don't see him this way, he views his self as a worthless person who will never fit in anywhere. He also has attention deficit disorder but instead of learning to overcome it, he learned to live with it and now expects other people to do so as well. I was told a close relative of his that's just the way he is, you will just have to deal with it. When speaking of self-esteem, he has low self-esteem but it is something he keeps hidden from people. He even has a hard time believing that people love him even if they do, which is the direct opposite of how people with high self-esteem act. He also goes back to the same relationships when presented the opportunity, even going as far as to leave a relationship he was in. He is also very pessimistic because he tends to believe that the people around him don't like him. Even though you will find it very hard to find someone who has a completely negative opinion of
