Fidel Castro’s Biography Fidel Castro is known as one of the “longest ruling leaders in history”, and not only that he is a “Cuban revolutionary and prime minister” and he fought for what he believed in with a fierce passion that could not be dulled by any man or woman (“Castro”). His full name is “Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz” and he was born on August 13th, 1926 (“Fidel”). His family owned a sugar plantation, and although the sugar plantation was enough to support the family of eight, “Castro’s parents had not planned to send their young son to school” however Castro would desperately dreamed of getting an education so they allowed him to attend school when he was around seven. However the election could never be held seeing as the former Cuban president “General Batista and his army overthrew” the government and cancelled the elections (“Castro”). Castro joined the Ortodoxo party to “organize an insurrection which they launced on July 26th, 1953”, but the attempted attack did not succed and Castro’s involvement in the violent attack against General Batista only landed him prison. Castro was meant to serve for 15 years, but was “released on amnesty, in 1955” and only after a year of being out of prison Castro again on “December 2, 1956, along with eighty other men landed in Oriente Province”, and planned to take out the Batista government once and for all but their attempt only resulted in another failed revolt, and Castro “fled to the Sierra Maestra” mountains, where he began hatching yet another attack against the Batista government …show more content…

The people of Cuba believed in Castro and his claims that he was “committed to democracy and social reform” he “promised free elections” and “denied he was a communist” he was gaining support at incredibly impressive rates and soon his original claims began to be thrown out he window (“Castro”). Castro began showing signs of communist qualities, the United States Government began to fear Castro and the power and loyalty he held with Latin America, but that did not stop Castro from fighting against the US and declared Cuba a communist state. The US and the Soviet Union broke away from Cuba, but Castro was unfazed he “began to take his communist revolution into other countries and in July of 1967 Castro formed the Latin American Solidarity Organization, that was designed to spark violence in Latin America” however not all revolutions are carried out and he was ultimately unsuccessful
