Comparative Analysis: Dennis Dugan When selecting a director to discuss, Dennis Dugan came to mind as one of the more light hearted comedic kinds. He is known to pair up with Adam Sandler and Happy Madison Productions to direct movies with both obnoxious jokes and fun loving story lines. Dennis Dugan has directed many of Sandler’s films including but not limited to, Happy Gilmore, Just Go With It, and Grown Ups. These few movies, like many of Dugan’s, share similar styles including comedy, family, and competition. In Dugan’s 1996 film, Happy Gilmore, a movie involving a rough house hockey-wanna-be, named Happy Gilmore (Played by Adam Sandler), whom finds his path leading somewhere else. Gilmore finds himself to be a great golfer with an unusual approach to his methods and trying to control his easily aggravated temper. His main purpose for playing golf is to save his grand-mothers house after it was repossessed, while trying to compete against a try-hard golfer, Shooter McGavin. While working on his putting, trying to get a girl, and dealing with obnoxious fans and nursing home care takers, Gilmore tries to suppress his anger and focus on winning the prize money from many golf tournaments.
