How does one know what is current? How do they learn of new ideas? Well, the twentieth century was full of new and influential ideas and innovations, the political turmoil, and advancements in almost every aspect changed the standards of our country today. Early twentieth-century technology allowed something that had never been done before, sharing one piece of work, such as a movie, to hundreds at a time. The new ideas and advancements in the cinema surrounded them, they listened to these ideas in a new progressive way, just as we do today to new trends and understandings.These changes left lasting social, emotional, and political effects on the people of this new era. In movies like my favorite “Mr.Smith goes to Washington” it tells of a corrupt government and how one man tries to change it all. The ideology of an honest political government was something the citizens of the US found refreshing, but those who were in government roles did not. There were many more movies like“Mr. Smith goes to Washington” where actors, actresses, and screenplay writers take the opportunity to bring up political struggles, injustices, and inequality. There were systems put in place to keep movies to “moral standard” of that time. The Production Code Administration (PCA) EStablished in 1934 was a list of "Don'ts and Be Carefuls" which could not be in movies such as; sympathy for criminals, attitude toward public characters and institutions, titles or scenes having to do with law enforcement or law-enforcing officers.
