The text I have created is a film treatment, and clearly the audience of this treatment is the film investment companies. They purpose of them is earn much more money from the box office but not only recover the original investment. Knowing their interests, I gave them many evidences that why this film can earn money in the part II of my text. Also, by searching online that what the investors are looking for, I found an article “The Film Investors Check List”, which the author Chris gives some questions that the investors would ask, “What other movies like this have sold in the last 3 years? For example, the statistics shows that Hong Kong movies earn more and more money in America in recent years, and the population of Chinese in America will bring the increase of box office. In additional, I made the rhetor become an experienced and successful screenwriter so that the audiences can trust me to invest this movie. Also, since the film noir has getting people’s attention back in the past few years, this can become a good selling point. There are many genre conventions of noir, like setting, themes and character types, and we can easily find it at many film noir like Double Indemnity and the novel The Big Sleep. Also, by the article “ The Conventions of Film Noir” written by Peta Darby, he points, “The use of both visual motifs and archetypal characters helps to portray the incessant, conventional theme of a pessimistic world view. The adherence to its rigid set of conventions is essential in producing powerful, distinctive Film Noir.” According to this writer, the conventions like the characters’ setting and some motifs are the requirement for a noir.
