Although sustainability is not social responsibility, it is a part of it. Assessing how these changes affect the environment, their competition, and humanity in general assists a company in determining their strategic plans. in order to remain on the cutting edge in a global marketplace, a company must continually seek cost savings, new products, and value - added services if they are to remain a viable entity. However, assessing the technology is an important step in its use. Consequently, one of the important factors to address during an assessment is legal compliance (Ferrell, Thorne, & Ferrell, 2016). In order to be socially responsible, other matters to consider are determining if executives are mindful of all regulations, including federal, state, and local, with inclusion of a process that keeps an eye on changes to those rules. This is incredibly important with a global company, such as Anglo American that operates in many countries, where each has its own laws.
