In the current age, technology is advancing at a rapid rate to the point that this current age is often called the technology age. Along with technology, the car industry and models have been evolving even more so than technology especially companies such as Tesla. For example, compare the first mass produced car, the model T in 1908, with a current age car from Tesla. The difference in gas mileage, radio, bluetooth, and other technological advancements is huge. However, where will the car industry be in 30 years? The car industry will evolve into an era where cars will be self-driving, connected to the cloud, environmentally safe, efficient, and provide a safe form of private transportation which benefits society greatly. Today, many automobile …show more content…

This is an incredible innovation that is already developed in cars now. However, none of the present cars are connected to what is known as the vehicle fog which is a sort of network amongst all cars and the main infrastructure. This concept works by having a vehicle that is “absorbing information from the environment (and from other cars) and feeding it to drivers and infrastructure” (Lee, 2016) in order to communicate the possible hazards and maximize driver safety. In order for this to be possible, the vehicles must be able to communicate with one another. They will be connected to the internet and relay information to the main infrastructure for other cars to use. A perk of this is that since cars can communicate with one another, the self-driving cars are able to adjust their route to minimize traffic and highways which is especially useful considering the “great stress on transportation systems” (Ghafoor, 2015) caused by the rapid growth of vehicle owners in recent years. This is the most efficient way to create a system of cars that are connected to a main infrastructure which promotes the vehicle fog and creates a safe and pleasant driving …show more content…

Today, many cars are required to go into auto-shops everyday to be fixed and have maintenance, however in the future cars will likely be manufactured differently. The mechanical parts will be controlled by a software and the car will be designed in a manner similar to a computer or phone; meaning the vehicle will be software-based and updatable. This opens a lot of possibilities such as cars using over-the-air-updates instead of the hassle of bringing it into an auto-shop, and cars being able to be improved without buying a whole new model. Since cars are software-based, they will be required to have a anti-virus system or a defence system in order for the car to not be hijacked. This is completely possible with frequent security updates that are pushed in over-the-air updates. Since cars are updatable through the air, their lifespan will be much longer, and become future-proof for the most part. With that, cars do not become short-term investments, but rather they become long-term
