There are many significant developments covered in this theme, such as discoveries, changes in thinking, or research advances. The developments that I consider to be the most significant and really caught my eye in this theme are health and wellbeing, climate change, economy, and Dr.Victoria Lavis research from University of Bradford. Health and wellbeing are now concentrating on preventative medicine. Using the principles on behavioral and social sciences, we are looking not for an individual change but a need to change as a whole system (Michie, 2015). Health and wellbeing use to be approached that you only go to the doctor if something is wrong, however incorporating the areas of social science we have realized that if we implement preventative medicine fewer people will have severe medical complications. Therefore society now feels the need to take care of their health and wellbeing and prevent these complications. Climate change left a lot of people with mixed understandings. Some people take it seriously; some people do not, but those who do now know what is harmful and how to keep it from getting out of control. The economy has changed society’s understanding that everyone is now more knowledgeable and aware of the economy and its changes. The research Dr. Victoria Lavis did change society’s understanding of how humans are all different and how we need to treat people fairly and respect everyone, or at least try to. All of these developments are applicable outside of the social sciences. Our topics can be looked at through life and even physical sciences so that we can continue to learn more information. There are many ways to look at these developments and ways to collect research other than the social aspects. We can use chemistry and biology when looking at the brain of a transgender or look at the GDP of the economy to learn more.
