“Never believe that a few caring people can't change the world. For, indeed, that's all who ever have” (Mead). Non-governmental organizations (NGO’s) are created to address and solve global issues. One of these organizations, Doctors without Borders/ Médecins sans Frontières (MSF), was created based on the belief that all people have the right to medical care regardless of gender, race, religion, creed, or political affiliation, and that the needs of these people outweigh respect for national boundaries. MSF has and will continue to change the world because MSF does important work that has a huge impact, prioritizes the welfare of those in the most need of medical attention and is a sustainable organization. When the Ebola virus broke out in West Africa in March 2014, MSF led the international humanitarian response effort, admitting more than 4,960 patients with Ebola and helping 2,300 of those patients to survive (Epidemics). The fact that MSF lead the response effort tells me that Africa would not have been able to handle it on their own. Without MSF, and other NGO’s who knows how far the disease would have spread and how many additional people would have died. The actions taken by MSF reduced the amount of people infected and the spending to other countries, therefore making a huge impact on the world. Furthermore, MSF plays an important role in helping people in naturel disasters, supplying them with food, shelter, medical attention, clothes, setting up health facilities, surgical units, and mobile clinics. After the earthquake in Haiti, MSF treated 350,000 patients, performed 16,000 surgeries, and when cholera broke out, they treated 60 percent of the cases countrywide. (Naturel Disasters). Finally, MSF is adaptable to global changes. MSF has faced health care crises like the re-emergence of once-controlled diseases; the emergence of new epidemics; lack of access to health care and failing health systems. (Bramen) Medical crisis are forever changing and MSF has been able to handle these crises. This shows that they will have successful future because they can adapt to the different problems that may occur in the future. Initially, MSF is a financial stable and independent organization. In 1982, MSF introduced direct-mail fund-raising techniques witch gave MSF regular income (Brauman). This technique allows MSF to be independent from any single donor or government or rely on spontaneous donations. And the regular income gives them a substantial and dependable financial resources. For these reasons MSF has a successful and stable future ahead of them. Furthermore, MSF has standardized procedures and protocols. Approximately forty books of guidelines exist, covering basic medical practice, as well as specialties such as surgery and ophthalmology (Braumen). These guidelines allow MSF to give the best and most efficient medical procedures, allows volunteers to understand what to do in life or death situations and keeps
