When looking through the Bible, you can find the book of Judges in the Old Testament. It is the seventh book. Found after Joshua and before Ruth. In researching, it is hard to find the author of this book, but you will find some references that have identified Samuel as it’s author. In this book you will find several genres which includes poetry and riddles. Based on the history that is recounted in the book, it was written approximately around 1086 -1004 B.C. It narrates Israel’s history from the death of Joshua to the birth of Samuel. The lessons learned in these older accounts was to teach Israel that God does punish sin and that everyone should remain loyal and committed to Him.
