Walter Dean Myers is the author of the book “Bad Boy”. The memoir is about a boy going through life struggles and obstacles to find his true identity. In the mean-time, Walter is getting into a lot of trouble in school and at home. The memories he shares are both humorous and true to life. In the book, He gives us information about his family members,and school problems He says in the book, “ I do not know who my mother was, but I know that she died when I was only a toddler.”He tells the readers that he is adopted by this father’s first marriage,her name is Florence Brown Dean. Walter tells the readers that his adopted mother’s family, whom was white, did not like her married to a black man. During this time they were still going through segregation. Walter grew up with 3 siblings in one little apartment. On his father’s side, he has one real sibling and the other two are on the adopted mother’s side. He gives his teachers a hard time, when he was in elementary school. He gets really good grades, but he just does not show that he is smart about his actions. For example: he was reading reading faster than most students in his class. Which resulted in kids starting to laughing and just smirk at him. In the book, Walter reacted by throwing the book and thinking it was going to hit the boy’s desk. He was wrong; it actually landed across the room.During Walter’s junior year, He would skip school and go to his favorite tree and read the chapters that he did not read in class . On the good note, he got transferred to a school with all smart
