Fine arts is the practicing and performing of visual arts, theater, choir, and many more. This is taught in separate class rooms to all students who are enrolled in private schools of the arts in California. This just means that in California private schools of the arts, students are given the opportunity to learn anything and everything they need and want about fine arts, and they get the chance to practice it. However, private schools of the arts aren’t always an option for those who want to participate in fine arts because of the costs. Therefore, fine arts need to be offered in all public schools as well ( “Status of Arts Education in California Public Schools” ). Similar to California, all public schools should allow fine arts to be taught during school hours ( “Status of Arts Education in California Public Schools” ). Children who can’t afford private schools and have to enroll in public schools might not get to experience the world of fine arts. With the adversity in our country today, students like me could get the opportunity to know and use fine arts in their every day lives. This could be something that is holding some public schools back when it comes to fine arts. However, I think administrators should be worried about the fundamentals students need to succeed in our artistic-driven society. How is it that when fine arts are made a necessity for school, grade averages on the SAT are higher than the grade averages of students who aren’t involved in the arts ( “Grade Weighing Law Action” )?
