The Baltimore County Fire Department is a progressive department that adapts to world around us. Every day there are new advancements in technology, medical research, and treatment modalities. The BCoFD strives to provide high quality patient care which starts with proper trainings that supports the needs of the county’s citizens. Trainings are cost-justified through current research, compliance of department standards, and mandatory requirements for certifications and licenses. Based off those components, there is a recognition for the need of training.
The technicians documented the time & date of the call, & began to videotape the fire. While the firefighters were fighting the fire, the forensic technicians took many pictures for the meantime, & also statements from witnesses. After the Forensic technicians spoke to Griffin, & hearing her statement during the arrival at the residence, they learned quickly that the fire was incendiary due to the smell of gas, & a quick explosion. Law enforcement was called, & the fire scene was quickly taped off as a crime scene then investigations began. With the proper safety equipment worn, investigators began to search for the fires Point-of-Origin, which was in the back bedroom where two five gallon gas cans were found.
This memo is to address the current recruitment strategies and employment processes used by Baltimore City’s Fire Department. New recruitment campaign designs will also be discussed in efforts to decrease potential discrimination cases and increase a more diverse pool of candidates. The recruitment practices used prior to the hiring freeze should not be continued. There is also room to argue that the current employment tests and recruitment strategies have had a negative impact on a particular class of applicants.
There were two stairways down to the street, although one was locked from the outside in order to avoid stealing from the factory and the other single opened inward. Another issue was that the fire escape was so thin that meant it would have taken hours for all the workers to use it, even during the best of situations and in this case it wasn’t the best of circumstances. The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory in New York City caught fire taking the lives of 145 workers. The lack of proper fire prevention devices, and no fire safety education played a factor in a significant historical safety regulation reform. By learning from our mistakes in the past we as a nation have grown into who we are today the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire is the paragon for workplace reform.
The first record of firefighting dates back to the 2nd century during Egyptian times. The fire service has made tremendous strides over the years, including when Ben Franklin founded the Union Fire Company in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1736, which was the first volunteer fire company. Since then there have been many great leaders who have led the fire service to be what it is today. One person who is most well-known for their impact on the fire service is Chief Alan Brunacini; also known by his friends and coworkers as “Bruno” (Foskett, 2020). Bruno joined the fire service in 1958 with the Phoenix Fire Department.
The most common services provided are “fire services, ems services, public assist, water rescue, wildland and some personnel are members of a VSR team” (Sime). Eldorado County fire has about 233 structure fires per year with station 25 having the most at almost sixty fires, and station 72 having only seven fires. For wildland fires, the total amount of fires comes out to about 200 fires per year. As for public assist, the numbers are significantly higher at the total number between stations being approximately 905 assist (Hardy). In order to get a job with Eldorado county fire department the mandatory requirements are “EMT or paramedic, fire academy, be at least 18 years old” (The Career Firefighter).

The overall picture of becoming a firefighter starts off with having a high school diploma, passing a physical test, written test, volunteer, then applying for a job. The physical exam starts of with a hearing and eyesight test. Then there is a blood pressure and urine test. Finally a psychological exam will cover personality traits specific to performance as a firefighter. The second part to the physical exam is a test called CPAT which includes more physical activity rather than just as assessment.
Additionally, as a counselor, it is important to be genuine with whatever feedbacks one presents to the patient and what one believes regarding the situation of the client. Mrs. Perez believes the more authentic and genuine he is with her patients, the more help he will be able to offer the clients. As a counselor, it is important to have a fine and professional interaction with one 's client but boundaries must be maintained. Through this, a counselor is able to demonstrate their focus on helping the patients by showing the client that they understand their problems. It also through such engagements that counselor is able to use the non-judgmental attention that does not require words for illustration in helping the patient.
Being the clinician and conducting an intake interview was one of the most the practical, informative, and thought-provoking assignments I have completed throughout undergrad thus far. While allowing me to practice clinical interviewing skills, I learned how difficult yet essential various skills were in order to successfully complete an intake process.
