First Do No Harm movie is directed by Jim Abrahams. The title of the movie comes from the oath of which doctors take as part of their vocation. The main information of the movie is that the doctor should always put the patient first. This applies when the doctor prescribes drugs to the little kid! The kid isn’t even 4 years old yet! The older man is taking the same drugs as little Robbie. In the movie, the drugs do more harm, then help. Robbie is having seizures, which usually means something is not functioning in the brain properly. In this case, the brain is sending signals down the spinal cord, causing him to have seizures. No doctor really knows what causes stuff like this to happen. I learned in Dr. Gulati’s class how the nervous system …show more content…
Its crazy to me that a parent has to try to find a cure because the doctors are only harming little Robbie. She finds out about the ketogenic diet. Lori later on gets caught trying to take her son out of the hospital. All she wants to do is get her kid to Kansas City where he will be treated right without any drugs. If I was Robbie’s parent, I have no clue how I would’ve handled this situation. I believe that Lori and Dave are trying there best to lookout for Robbie’s health. This is something all doctors have to keep in mind. I think it’s safe to say that Dr. Abbasac never thought about the oath while treating little Robbie. This made me think about when I broke my wrist and had to have surgery. The doctors prescribed to me some of the strongest pain killer medicines. My parents never even thought about giving them to me. This movie taught me a valuable lesson about medicine. Sometimes the simplest things work, and drugs aren’t needed. When Lori and Robbie get to John Hopkins hospital, they get started on the Ketogenic Diet. It begins to slowly work wonders on him. All Lori and Dave needed was the simplest information, but instead of giving it to them , they abused little Robbie and they almost destroyed the whole family. At the first hospital, they caused so much pain and anger in the family’s heart. When they got to John Hopkins, it was just like a miracle had happened over a few nights. However, one of the most important things I got out of all of this is that a diet plays a crucial role on the effect of epilepsy. If Lori would’ve never been aware of the Ketogenic diet, he would’ve never improved. Another valuable lesson I got out of all this is that a little research on something or somebody can go a long way. I really enjoyed this movie. I would be lying if I said I didn’t shed a tear. Overall, the movie was very interesting and one thing to always remember is “First Do
