Over the course of the semester, I learned about the power of nonviolence and successfully met five humanities outcomes in which as individuals were able to analyze and interpret different ideas and historical events that made an impact in the world.
The first humanities outcome was about being able to analyze, interpret and emerge contemporary works using the human imagination. In the beginning, of the semester we looked at a video about a poor community who was living in poverty. This community lived in poor conditions were trash was the only thing they saw. Many children living in this community did not have the opportunity to pursue an education however this group of children had a brilliant idea to use trash in order to create musical

We began by focusing on Martin Luther King civil rights movement and his success in helping the black community. When Martin Luther King began to fight for the equal rights of African Americans he was able to obtain much more support from the black population. Soon his movement converted into black power where many African Americans came together as a group and began to fight for the rights they deserved. In order for the black power to become successful King showed his people to not respond with acts of violence and put the principles and practices of nonviolence by marching, protesting and never giving up always having a dream and a light of hope. Later the black power won and African Americans were finally equal and free. To successfully meet the humanities outcome we also focused on Chavez and the farmworkers movement. We analyzed how Cesar Chavez organized and help the poor who did not have any power. Chavez and his followers also used the methods of nonviolence by boycotting, marching and simply not responding to violent acts. This led farmworkers to respond with anger and begin gaining power. I met this outcome by watching videos of different historical events. When watching these videos I focused on the sociological, psychological, historical, political and much more. I analyzed and applied few events into this perspectives. When watching the video about Cesar Chavez and the farm workers movement I observed how Chavez applied a religious perspective into the movement by learning about the social teaching that Father Mc Donald demonstrating him. I also saw this movement from an economic perspective when Chavez main objective was for farmworkers to work under a well-represented union and receive higher wages. We also looked at the founder of this nonviolent movement and from a psychological perspective. When Gandhi and his followers were marching the British military came and began to severely beat Gandhi’s followers. From a psychological perspective however Gandhi encouraged his followers to not respond with acts of violence because that only lead to losing against the
