Mindset can be defined as the ability to think or have an attitude that predetermines that person’s responses and thoughts about a situation. In most situations, there are two mindsets a person can have; A fixed mindset or a growth mindset. A fixed mindset is one of which the person believes that their qualities, abilities and talents they display in a given situation are fixed; therefore, are unable to be developed or improved making the person believe they must prove themselves over and over (Dweck, 2012). Therefore, defining social construction as the way in which society and the world around something or someone moulds them and influences their thoughts and understanding of things and situations. Society has influence many of my views, leadership being one of them. I define leadership as someone taking the time to lead put others in front of their own needs and wants to influence the followers into accomplishing their own goals or the overall group goal with also getting and doing what’s best for everyone. Coaches, teachers, family members and leaders of community groups have all had a large impact on the way I view leadership. An example of this which has affect my views on leadership was my last and most recent coach. This coach had been my coach for 5 years and I had made it into the top team at my club, this team when and completed at the World Championships for Cheerleading in America. This coach went above and beyond this coaching role to make sure his athletes had the less stress possible and if he had to him would take on their stress also. Back stage he would be the one to calm everyone down and keep the team level headed and ready to perform. This experience has showed how far a leader should be willing to go for the people that need them the most, the leader should never show how unsure or nervous they are on the inside as his or she has people counting on them to be that clear mind to lean on. I now understand and am grateful I had the opportunity to follow under that coach as I am now a better person and hold better leadership values because of
