If I asked the general public “Who is Ntozaki Shange?” A fair amount of people would tell me who she is yet there would also be those that would respond with no response, then state that they sound like they’re from some Asian nationality just based off the name. But would soon find out that she’s a Black African American that had her changed from her birth given name. Ntozaki Shange is a well renowned poet, a novelist, and play writer that a lot of people have no clue who she is I for one am among that crowd of people that don’t know her or her astonishing work. As I went on looking more into Ntozaki Shange I found out about many that she made many plays one of which been shown on Broadway that’s called “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered …show more content…

Ntozaki Shange not only changed but challenge the norm of traditional theatre, but as well as addressing gender and race issues that was still much present in society, as well controversial results. All eyes on Ntozaki and the play that received so much attention was For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/ When The Rainbow Is Enuf. This play was intended to speaking towards women of color all while offering guidance for black women. During my firs initial reading of Ntozaki’s for colored girls who have considered suicide I didn’t think much of the book just another assignment I needed to to in order to move on to the next course. As such I couldn 't fully wrap my head around on the book and the meaning she could’ve thrown into the book. After coming to reading it quite a few more times I was shocked from her gallant yet sincere publication about how women being pushed aside by society, like a boiling pot pushed to the back burner on the stove to simmer. Both her content and publication are bold, taking from many different established articular forms in order to create An
