Released September 29, 1950, Sunset Boulevard is a film noir of a forgotten silent film star, Norma Desmond, that dreams of a comeback and an unsuccessful screenwriter, Joe Gillis, working together. Ultimately an uncomfortable relationship evolves between Norma and Joe that Joe does not want a part of. Sunset Boulevard starts off with an establishing shot from a high angle shot with a narrative leading to a crime scene shot in long shot (a dead body is found floating in a pool). The narrative throughout the film established a formalist film. Cinematography John F. Seitz used lighting and camera angles in such a way to create a loneliness and hopefulness atmosphere.
The 2002 comedy film, ‘‘Friday after Next ' ' cranks up an impressive amount of energy considering that it 's the third installment. Yet although most of the ' 'Friday ' ' team returns, attrition is slowly wearing away at the series. ' 'I don 't know if I can handle another Friday, ' ' Craig says at the start of the movie, suggesting that despite all the laughs, he understands how tired the series is becoming. This film is directed by Marcus Raboy. Mike Epps is the comic character of the film that keep you guessing what he would do next, and Ice Cube is the serious cousins that keeps it altogether.

Throughout the movie “End of Watch” follows along with Officer Brian Taylor (Gyllenhaal) and Officer Mike Zavala (Pena) on their daily patrols in the inner city of Los Angeles. During the course of the movie, there are many things that Officer Taylor and Officer Zavala do that is very common and even accepted among police officers. But, one reoccurring theme is that they use foul language while on duty, act unprofessional, and use excessive force. In addition, Officer Taylor is actively recording his daily activities while on duty with a handheld video camera and lapel body cameras for both himself and Officer Zavala. Even though Officer Taylor was repeatedly told to cease his filming by fellow officers and supervisors he continued his behavior.

Features of the film 's sense of space and time, setting, motifs, characters, and character goals will be explored and how they affect the characterisation, structure, and three-act organisation.
Despite being one of the most impactful genres of its time, there isn't a fully accurate portrayal of gangster rap's history. The origins of the genre, as we know it today, lie in 1988 when the rap group N.W.A. released its seminal album Straight Outta Compton. The album received praise and much more scrutiny but it's brutally honest depiction of life in South Central Los Angeles captured the attention of the nation's youth. However, the subject matter of N.W.A.'s music created an exaggerated image for them and every other artist that partook in the genre. Along with the rise of gangster rap there was an increase in the public’s awareness of street gangs.

This is demonstrated throughout Newsies, a Broadway Musical displaying the challenges from this time period. Child labor, a major part of the movie, was the way of life and consisted of young children doing hard work as a vital part of the nation’s economy and income of families of the time. Another part of the movie, strikes, were the people’s way of refusing to work as a result of not getting their desires.

In the movie, Everything Must Go, starring Will Ferrell, is a film about an alcoholic named Nick Halsey, who just lost his job, his wife, and his home. Since his wife put all his items onto the front lawn, Nick decides to make the best of it and starts living on his lawn. Nick also has a limited amount of time to sell or giveaway his things because he can’t live on his lawn for long. The theme of this film is how people start to change once they have lost everything. The author is trying say that people trying to change themselves for the better after they’ve lost it all is just a natural way of human nature.
Good Night and Good Luck’ is a historical film based on the work of Edward Murrow and the television crew of ‘See It Now’, a programme broadcasted by CBS in the 1950s. Murrow and the crew are determined to confront the anti-communist command of the Republican Senator Joseph McCarthy. Throughout the film, the CBS team work in an effort to dismantle the views of McCarthy and prevent the spread of McCarthyism in the U.S. The film was written by George Clooney and Grant Heslov and was released in the U.S in October 2005. Clooney also directed the film, which is fitting to the subject matter of the film, given his background.
The movie chosen was “On Golden Pond.” The life transition and developmental issue present in the couple are the father 's cognitive decline and age-related memory loss, familial conflict and divergence between father and daughter. Norman and Ethel appear hunched and infirm which is a sign of osteoporosis or general bone density decline, and their hair is gray and thinning. Ethel seems to be in better shape than Norman. The movie is filled with conflict and resolution.
In the movie “Friday” it displays a typical day in the ghetto and what obstacles two young black men had to go through just to get through one day. Ice Cube a famous American rapper from LA’s popular 90’s hip hop group NWA wrote this historic black comedic/drama film and along plays the main character Craig Jones. Craig plays the neighborhood hero after a chaotic day where he deals with bullies, his love life, annoying neighbors, and scary drug dealers. The film is based in south central LA in the mid 90’s where Craig and his best friend Smokey who is played by comedian/actor Chris Tucker find themselves in trouble after thinking it would be a typical Friday in the ghetto. Craig a young black man in his early twenties lives at home with his parents is determined to leave the ghetto but there 's just some things holding him back.
In the film, The Last Samurai, starring Tom Cruise, viewers are taken on a journey of the modernization of Japan. They see the change the country went through to get to what they are today through the eyes of the samurai. The movie gives people a different outlook on the westernization of countries similar to Japan and how big of an impact it had on the population. The samurai was part of a warrior caste in Japan and began to emerge in 1192.
In April – July 1994 a massacre genocide happened in the country Africa between two groups of African people, which were known as the Hutus and Tutsi. Rwanda is part of Africa the movie took place . Within these four months 800,000 people died. As I viewed the film Sometimes In April it really showed how they killed the Tutsi people just because of who they were. The main character Augustin and his brother Honore played opposite sides during the genocide.
