In the short story The Examination Day, the author Henry Seslar used foreshadowing and suspense to advance the plot of the story by making the reader interested in what the exam is and what is going to take place. In the story, it says “‘Dad,’ he said, ‘how far away is the sun?’ ‘Five thousand miles,’ his father said” (Seslar 1).
