Law is considered to be one of the many forms of a social science, and that science exist because of law. The relationship between society and the law are similar to glove and hand. The social world is continually changing every second of the day. These particular changes happen because of our contradictory views in our minds of people in the community. Due to these changes over history we should not use nor expect to use these laws that were amended in a constitutions over decades old, because it does not apply to the current situations in a community, or society. Due to continual changes in the law, this tends to bring out a brighter side of laws and social change and shows the negativity that is still intertwined in our societies. Du Bois had published THE SOULS OF BLACK FOLK, which was a collaboration of his essays back in 1903. It was deemed to be an exquisite display of his literature. THE SOULS OF BLACK FOLK discussed the issues of African American life, that had been taken from the Freedman's Bureau. It also depicts Du Bois' teachings in the south. Du Bois's brief "Forethought" includes one of his most famous lines: "The problem of the Twentieth Century is the problem of the color-line." (pbs.org/stories) In the story of Souls of Black Folk, there is another famous quote, and it is: "It is a peculiar sensation, this double-consciousness, this sense of always looking at one's self through the eyes of others, of measuring one's soul by the tape of a world that looks on in amused contempt and pity. One ever feels his two-ness -- an American, a Negro; two souls, two thoughts, two unreconciled strivings; two warring ideals in one dark body, whose dogged strength alone keeps it from being torn asunder." (pbs.org/stories) Is that it goes back farther than MLK, farther than Durkheim. I feel that Martin Luther King held the torch for the Civil Rights Movement, but the torch was already lit by W.E.B.
