In the Scarlet Letter, Hawthorne seems to aspire to get everyone to have forgiveness, in order to do so he tells us to “be true”. In my opinion, and in all honesty it has ended up hard to choose whether or not Dimmesdale and Hester have shown forgiveness, Hawthorne tells the scarlet letter in a form to where they have earned forgiveness. Even though it may look in a form of forgiveness, people may think otherwise. To begin my first statement, it may be wrongfully so for Dimmesdale to have waited so long, to tell his fellow people about his scarlet letter, but he had shown the right give, he told and finally showed who he really has become. Hester standing by his side, and pearl not up forth of all the people, the main sinner has come forth to expose the truth behind himself. Dimmesdale has shown what he has kept hidden for so long from thee who stand before him. The townspeople in a gaze of horror, seeing who has ended up their leader, their protector, standing in front of them as a sinner of the world. Hawthorne’s states in the Scarlet Letter, “May God forgive thee!” Said the minister. “Thou, too hast deeply sinned!” He withdrew his dying eyes from the old man, and fixed them on the woman and child.” With Dimmesdale standing there, listening to what the minister has said, he still doesn’t seem to acknowledge what the townspeople say. Due to Dimmesdale standing up there, and bringing Hester upon everyone as well, Dimmesdale with not stop showing his love for her, even if the townspeople may not accept it. For my second statement, someone in the town said, that the child, seems to have become a gift from God, a gift from God for Hester. Once a sinner, maybe a piece of God could cure whatever curse Hell has put upon one. Pearl born from Hester, a sinner, let’s the townspeople also say that it maybe just another sinner running around. Pearl is conscience and she may have some effect on Hester in order to make it to where she has shown some forgiveness in
