Furthermore, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak helps to more thoroughly display the practice of forgiveness when Leisel demonstrates forgiveness after the bombing on Himmel Street. According to Leisel, “I have hated the words and I have loved them, and I hope I have made them right” (Zusak 528). Zusak uses the word “hated” to illustrate the pain and hardship Leisel has gone through due to the destructive power of words. He also uses “right” to describe Leisels boundless effort to change her experiences with words into something positive. I can even use the power of words to forgive someone.
