Anne Hathaway The wife of Shakespeare once said “Loneliness is my least favorite thing about life. The thing that I'm most worried about is just being alone without anybody to are for or someone who will care for me.”-Anne Hathaway. I use this quote as an example of what Vahan had to grow through in Forgotten Fire where there is nobody to care for him throughout his struggle. In Forgotten Fire by Adam Bagdasarian, It’s a story about a young man named Vahan who is in the midst of the 1915 Armenian Genocide. He is an Armenian and his family is killed so he is faced with many problems during the genocide. Vahan has to go on a journey that is filled with fear and constant loneliness. Vahan is currently a servant for Dr.Tashian and hasn't really felt that home spirit or being with his family members and it finally hits him. Vahan gets news about Constantinople but is still with the Tashians. In addition, “I still wanted a home and a family more than anything in the world, but if I was honest with myself, I had to admit that there was probably no such place and no such people." Vahan seems like he has given up and it seems to make him feel he will never have that home feeling again.

Vahan changes throughout the story because of loneliness and doesn’t just care about himself. Vahan during his stay befriend a girl named Seranoush who sadly gets raped daily by soldiers. Vahan feels bad that he can't comfort her loneliness through bad times. For example, “I wanted her to know that she was safe, that she was no longer alone, that this was not just the best day of my life but the best day of hers, as well. She had a family now. She had a brother, a father, and a best friend.”Vahan wanted to know if she was ok and that she wasn’t alone like he was sadly.

Throughout the book, Vahan gains a lot of life lessons that anybody can learn from. Loneliness is one where even if you are by yourself to not be so reliant and to gain the strength from it. In conclusion, Vahan Loneliness gives him strength that wasn’t there before the
