1. When we chose our project we first started looking through the Civil War battles. We first looked at the battle of Fort Sumter and then we decided that Fort Sumter is not a good project because of the Union losing the battle and everyone does Fort Sumter for a project. Then we looked at the Battle of Port Royal which is a battle not much people choose. Also this is a battle that people need to know more about. Many people overlook this battle so we decided that this was going to be the perfect project for National History Day.

Some of the best features of this article is that it had statistics of the battle and a the article also had many details of what the battle was like. Later we also found other websites and sources, since we found our sources now we just have to gather research from them. We both in our own time reviewed the sources and found important pieces of information from each website and source.
3. Now that we collected our research we had to figure out how we will present it. We looked over the different ways to present our research on the battle of Port Royal. We looked through the NHD example projects. After a lot of planning on how we are going to present our work we decided to present our work as a website. We have had past experience with the website creator, “Weebly”, so we felt very confident and knew we could get everything done in time to present. We have been proud of our choice and we have had no regrets.
4. Our Project relates to the NHD theme by including a conflict and a compromise. The battle of Port Royal relates to South Carolina and American history by turning the tables in the civil war. The conflict of the battle of Port Royal was that Abraham Lincoln demanded for
