U.S. soldiers are trained to follow orders, which is exactly what they did as hundreds of villagers were indiscriminately killed in the My Lai Massacre. Even if the soldiers were acting under confusing orders, that is a failure of the chain of command, and even if the killings were orchestrated by a few incompetent officers, those officers never should have been placed in leadership roles. The real tragedy of My Lai represents an entire system of willful negligence and lack of accountability on the part of the military. Thus the responsibility for the massacre lies with the men involved, but also with the military chain of command that gave the order and then tried to cover it up.

Bryce Harper and Hunter Strickland’s throw-down on Memorial Day reminded us that the bad blood between two teams or players isn’t always settled by playing the game. Below are, in no particular order, the top 10 baseball brawls in recent memory. Robin Ventura vs. Nolan Ryan, 1993 The altercation between Robin Ventura and Nolan Ryan is probably one of the most iconic brawls in baseball history. Warrior day consisted of a midterm evaluation, drill evaluation, warrior knowledge competition, and a physical training (PT) session. The first portion of Warrior Day consisted of a midterm exam on our warrior knowledge. The exam was quite easy for the cadets who spent time carefully studying all the knowledge learned throughout the knowledge.
Freedom Summer, or the Mississippi Summer Project, was a volunteer campaign launched in June 1964 to attempt to register as many African-American voters as possible in Mississippi, which had historically excluded most blacks from voting. The project also set up dozens of Freedom Schools throughout Mississippi to aid the local black population. The projects leadership and funding came from the SNCC and COFO, along with hundreds of white college students in the north. In 1963, the SNCC organized a mock vote for blacks, which gave them a chance to prove they were capable of understanding politics. The civil rights activists from both organizations and the white volunteers from the north faced many challenges during the campaign.
The day ended with the heavy scent of oily smoke instead of the cool tropical breezes usual to Hawaiian weather. The hard wails of ambulances and clamor of emergency crews replaced the soft crash of waves against serene beaches and calming music of a ukulele. Deep colorful sunsets of paradise vistas were replaced with the dark crimson of make-shift hospitals to treat the multitudes of wounded and dying. On 7 December 1941, The Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) attacked Pearl Harbor. President Roosevelt accurately captured the sentiment of The United States when he addressed Congress, “Yesterday, December 7, 1941—a date which will live in infamy—the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the

Today’s society is one in which women can assume positions of power, without being regarded as bitches or being told that they are for men to take. We usually do not take these women as emasculating, or oppressive towards men; although they can be, generally, they are not. In the book, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest however, the female characters, with the exception of prostitutes and one of the nurses, are often portrayed as castrators or ‘ball cutters’. It becomes quite clear that, as we progress through the story, we see that the patients have been psychologically affected negatively, as a result of dealing with the overpowering and emasculating female characters. Furthermore, the patients seem to agree that the women, especially Nurse
Everyone has wanted the freedom to make their own choices in life. When making your own decisions there comes a cost as to taking responsibility for those actions. Personal independence can be very difficult at times when making the wrong choice, or it can be very rewarding when an individual is the one making the rights choices for itself. Unfortunately, not everyone in this world is capable of making choices on their own and be able to make decisions on how to live their life, and people who are able to make their own choices take that freedom for granted most of the time. There are so many things that a person can accomplish in life, with making their own choices and having that independence as a human being.
