Good writing can only be seen throughout text if there is evident time, thought, and interaction with the text. In our society today, there is often a lack of these three elements that are vital to the composition and effectiveness of a piece. In order to reach the bare minimum in terms of “good writing”, one must take these precedents into serious consideration otherwise, the author will not be writing at their full potential. Each of the three necessary components are briefly touched upon one way or another by three of the most renown authors: William F. Buckley, Jr., George Orwell, and Francine Prose. She explains the process, she took in her journey to become a good writer.’For instance she said, “I read closely, word by word, sentence by sentence, pondering each deceptively minor decision the writer had made.” Prose emphasizes the importance of interaction between the material and the individual. As humans, it’s only possible to learn through the growth of our mistakes, other’s successes, or the combination of the two. That is the question that needs to be answered by us as writers. Is always aiming to be just adequate in our writing fair? In today’s culture, most individuals and teams are constantly striving to be the best by being #1 in the state, country, and even the world. It only makes sense that the norms set in place now are invalid as they are addressing only good writing, not great or exceptional writing. In terms of successful and effective writing, good will do just the trick if the three required components are all there. All individuals should be encouraged to write as it is a creative outlet that has an ongoing cycle of inspiration and action. As readers and writers, we can continue to maintain this loop of habit for the success of writing by putting in time, thought, and interacting with the
