Initially, Francis Ford Coppola wanted to give the title The Death of Michael Corleone. However, Paramount Pictures opposed that idea, giving us the title we know up to this day, The Godfather: Part III. This story acts as an epilogue for the novel (Perrotta, 2015). Set in 1979, New York, Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) who is now a widow, has nearly succeeded to fulfill his promise that one day they would be "completely legitimate." Michael tells Vincent to pretend that he is thinking of leaving the Corleone family, so that he can approach Altobello, to see where the old man’s loyalties lie. Altobello welcomes Vincent and introduces him to Licio Lucchesi (Enzo Robutti), the man behind the prevention of Michael’s acquisition of Immobiliare. Michael visits Cardinal Lamberto, a well-intentioned and pious priest, to speak about the Immobiliare deal. Lamberto dares Michael to make his first confession in thirty years.
