Al Capone Al Capone greatly influenced the illegal bootlegging business in chicago and set a standard in te mafia industry. Al Capone rose to power in the early 1920s in many ways, he had lots of help in this climb to the top. The early days of Al Capone his rebelious actions would just be talking back to his teachers and doing his own thing. One day back in his new york home town , when he was young his teacher hit him for acting out, he struck back. After this predickament at school he never returned, shortly after he would move and finaly meet the man who would change his life and the women who he would love and have kids with. Alphonse wanted ti right by his family so they decided to move to Baltimore where he would get a honest job as a bookkeeper. A couple years passed and Johnny torrio invited Capone to go to Chicago with him, Capone was thrilled at the idea. In chicago Torrio was looking over the Gambling and bootlegging business, and with Prohibition in affect everyone wanted booze even worse and this would be cheaply sold at these underground speakeasys. In 1925 Johnny Torrio decided he needed to leave the Business after someone in a rival mob tried to take his life, he turned obver all of his operations to Capone who then tried taking this mafia to the next level. HE immidatly began living the luxury life the all the illeagal operations bringing in 100 million in revennue annually. The police quickly caught on to what Capone was upto and tried to charge him a previous murder commited, the police could not find any solid proof that could take Capone away, his place of bisness would then be searched where police would then find documents leading to his future arrest from the income tax evasion.(history) In early 1929 capone dominated the illegal liqor trade in chicago and had recived many rivals while getting to the top, one of which being Bugs Moran. In 1939 Capone would be sent to a mental hospital after serving 6 and a half years of his sentence, Capones health was not good due to the fact he contracted syphilis at a young age . He would move out to his FLorida beach house after serving his time and he would pass away January 25, 1947 due to cardiac arrest .(Brittanica) Al Capone really changed the way we saw gangsters and really set a standard for the mafia , Capone didnt have a loit going for him in the begininng but he eventually changed and went up the social ladder in the gang community, eventually granting him a spot at the top of the chain. even through all the tough events Capone will always be one of the top mobsters of all
