Al Capone was one of America’s most feared gangsters during the 1920s. He was born January 17th, 1899 in Brooklyn, New York. Both of his parents were poor immigrants with next to nothing. He built an empire with nothing but his wits and smart decisions. He had a large impact on America during the time he was in control. He was the cause of a lot of good and bad. He was known for donating to multiple charities while at the same time he was known for being a very violent man as he was the reason for many deaths After many years Al Capone is still known for his fearsomeness and the influence he had all over America.

It was shortly after this that crime boss Jim Colosimo was murdered; either by Capone himself or another gang member. This was to make way for Johnny’s rule. After this takeover the gang began drawing in immense wealth They were starting to do very well and Capone was also rising up the ranks quickly. Capone began getting used to murdering many different people. He was starting to become the incredibly violent person he is known for nowadays. Capone and his mentor Johnny were really gaining a reputation now and the police were trying their hardest to put them in jail but it had not worked at all for a while until eventually Johnny was convicted. After Johnny’s time in prison he decided to return to Italy and Capone took his rightful spot as the crime boss of Chicago. He was running gambling and prostitution rings and was expanding his territory by killing off rival gang leaders and taking over their gangs. By 1927, Capone’s wealth was estimated to be close to $100 million dollars and it was almost as if nobody could stop him anymore. In 1929 Capone decided to kill 7 unarmed members of a rival gang. This caused a lot of public outrage calling for the arrest of capone even though before then he had been getting away with most of his violent acts. Finally in June of 1931 Capone was arrested and charged for tax evasion. He was sentenced to 11 years in prison while also having to pay $50,000 in fines. He entered an Atlanta penitentiary in 1932 but was later transferred to Alcatraz in 1934. He was a maximum security prisoner and was known to be carefully dealt with as he was always a very dangerous man no matter if he was armed or not. Al Capone had many years where he was a king but now he had been reduced to a dangerous prisoner. It got even worse when he got syphilis. Weak, defeated and retired Al Capone finally retired to his Florida estate where he died from a cardiac arrest in 1947. Many considered it a pathetic end
